Two days ago Apple introduced Swift, a new language for the future of Apple software development. We are pleased to announce that we will be adding support for Swift code generation to PaintCode very soon. Here is a video of our internal build of PaintCode 2.1 running the Swift code generator:
We’ve redrawn the Swift logo in PaintCode, let it generate the corresponding Swift drawing code and then used it in a test app in the iOS Simulator. Our experience with Swift has been very positive so far – congratulations to Chris Lattner and his entire development team for this great work! We’ve been dreaming about a better programming language on Apple platforms for a long time and it’s great to finally see it come true. The Swift code generation module is coming in PaintCode 2.1 as a free update, hopefully in a few days.
