At Twixl media we thought we could do our share by developing a tool that makes it possible to translate print designs to digital designs by integrating extra content such as photos, slide shows, audio, video and web content into a seamless iPad blend.
WHAT IS TWIXL PUBLISHER ?
Twixl Publisher allows you to produce content apps for tablets fully independently – from design to publishing in the app stores or within a private environment. Twixl Publisher is a combination of a stand-alone OS X application and a plug-in for Adobe InDesign CC or CS6 that allows you to create interactive reader apps for tablets. You can either start from existing documents or you can create new documents from scratch. With Twixl Publisher, different types of interactive content are supported, such as photo slide shows, audio, video, HTML5 web viewers and more. Twixl Publisher allows you to create apps for both the iPad and for Android tablets.
SUBSCRIPTION OPTIONS
TWIXL PUBLISHER SINGLE
Allows you to publish an unlimited number of single-issue apps for iPad and Android tablets directly in the three app stores we support. It is ideal for individual designers and smaller shops that regularly want to create cross-platform branded app store apps.
TWIXL PUBLISHER ONE MULTI
Allows you to publish one multi-issue app in the App Stores and provides access to the Twixl Distribution Platform, for managing and storing the different issues in your kiosk app. It also supports unlimited single-issue apps.
TWIXL PUBLISHER UNLIMITED MULTI
Allows you to publish an unlimited number of both single-issue and multi-issue apps in the App Stores and provides access to the Twixl Distribution Platform, for managing and storing the different issues in your kiosk apps. Multi-issue apps on the Twixl Distribution Platform support the use of in-app purchases and subscriptions, sending push notifications, and also allow PDF content to be displayed in your kiosk, in addition to Twixl’s own enriched publications.
TWIXL PUBLISHER ENTERPRISE
The Twixl Publisher Enterprise solutions are for iPad only and allow you to publish in a private environment. In addition to Twixl publications, it also provides support for PDFs, Office and iWork documents, video’s, image collections and more… The web-based management backend allows you to define users and groups with different access privileges. This product is targeted at all companies that are using iPads to control in-house content distribution.

DISTRIBUTION
To publish and distribute multi-issue apps you need a platform to manage your apps and store the different issues of your apps. For publishing in Apple’s App Store, Google Play and the Amazon Appstore, we provide the Twixl Distribution Platform to do just that. Subscribers to Twixl Publisher One or Unlimited Multi automatically get acces to the Twixl Distribution Platform.
To publish to a private audience (with ‘restricted access’) we offer the Twixl Publisher Enterprise solutions.
TWIXL DISTRIBUTION PLATFORM
- The Twixl Distribution Platform is a cloud-based system to manage and store content for multi-issue app store apps created with Twixl Publisher.
- It manages a multitude of services such as in-app purchases, subscriptions, push notifications, entitlements, etc.
- Apps that use the Twixl Distribution Platform can render not only Twixl Publisher .publication files, but also PDF files.
- The Twixl Distribution Platform provides built-in storage, but publishers with high download volumes have the option to use their own storage account.
- Access to the Twixl Distribution Platform is included automatically with the Twixl Publisher One Multi and Unlimited Multi subscriptions. Twixl Publisher One Multi comes with 5.000 free downloads per year. Twixl Publisher Unlimited Multi includes 20.000 free downloads per year.
WHAT IT IS
To publish multi-issue apps in the app stores you need a system to both manage and store the different issues in your apps. The Twixl Distribution Platform is a cloud-based system to manage and store content for multi-issue app store apps created with Twixl Publisher. Subscribers for Twixl Publisher One or Unlimited Multi will automatically get access to the Twixl Distribution Platform.
The Twixl Distribution Platform combines different cloud-based services that manage the distribution of your publications and manage who gets to download which issues. Apart from this, it also enables you to communicate with your subscribers by means of push notifications.The content management system lets you set up multiple apps, and manage the issues in those apps. Apps can contain free content, in-app purchase content (per issue), and/or subscription content.
The CMS will also manage the storage of the issues and determine which issue(s) are going to be available to users that make a particular purchase.
The Twixl Distribution Platform also links to the developer setup in iTunes Connect (for iPad apps) or Google Play (for Android apps).
This makes sure that for every purchase via the app stores, the Twixl Distribution Platform will let the user download the correct publication(s).
Platform downloads are automatically optimized for the device, so that an iPad retina will only get the retina content, and a ‘standard’ iPad only the normal resolution version (the same goes for 7” and 10” for Android devices).
Push notifications are also supported so you can send a notification message to all existing users of your app when publishing a new issue.
Multi-issue apps also support publishing PDF files, in addition to Twixl’s own enriched .publication files. Both formats can be combined in the same multi-issue app.
